The management of The UWI Mona Campus is continuing to closely monitor Hurricane Beryl and the possibility of it impacting Jamaica later this week. The Government of Jamaica has now issued a Hurricane Watch for the island. Decisions will be taken on the continued operations of the Campus and the Halls of Residence based on updates from official sources.
Please be advised that as we brace for Beryl, the University remains open for business and we will continue to be guided by the national updates and instructions of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM). We will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates until Beryl is no longer a threat.
We have received preliminary positive reports from our sister Campus in Cave Hill. We await updates from the other Campuses and have all of our Campuses in our thoughts and prayers at this time. In the meantime, we urge all students, staff, and other stakeholders to make preparations in your respective homes. Continue to check for official updates from ODPEM and The UWI Mona channels.
