Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Professor Densil A. Williams, was awarded an honourary professorship by the Taiyuan University of Technology, (TYUT) in China for his work as an international business scholar and a university administrator. The appointment ceremony took place at the Mingxiang Campus of TYUT, with the Vice President (in charge of administrative work) and Communist Party of China Deputy Secretary for the Region, Sun Hongbin, conferring the award while Vice President Xiao Liantuan, presided over the ceremony which was attended by senior academics from the campus.   
 
In presenting the award, Professor Sun Hongbin praised Professor Williams for his academic and managerial achievements. He noted that Professor Williams is an excellent scholar and that the University, especially the School of Business and Management, admired his scholarly work in the internationalization firms. He warmly welcomed Professor Williams to join the University's research team and expressed gratitude for his efforts in advancing the internationalization of academic research for the faculty and students.
 
In accepting the award, Professor Williams noted "I am humbled and honoured to receive this recognition from Taiyuan University of Technology. I thank the President and Faculty for this honour and pledge to continue to advance the research agenda in the field of International Business and to share the scholarly output with the wider global academic community. This award not only recognizes my work but also reflects the strong relationship between Jamaica and China over the past 50 years stemming from Jamaica's foreign policy of progressive internationalism in the 1970s," added Williams.
 
As an honourary Professor, Professor  Williams will visit the TYUT to deliver lectures and participate in research and teaching and learning activities at the institution.
 
Professor Williams is a renowned academic in the Caribbean region. He earned his PhD in International Business and Strategy from the Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester in 2006. He has received numerous accolades, including the Most Outstanding Researcher from the Social Sciences Faculty at the Mona Campus in 2013 and 2015. He is a Government of Jamaica Scholar, a Jamaica Flour Mills Scholar, a Lome IV Scholar and a Commonwealth Scholar. With over 22 years of professional experience in both the business and academic sectors, Professor Williams has authored five scholarly monographs, published over 70 widely cited research papers in academic journals and conferences, and demonstrated an exceptional record in public service, research, and academic work. He has also served on the boards of various national entities, private sector organizations, and committees, both regionally and internationally.
