As the new academic year commences, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce its six newest Professors, including an Environmental Physicist, Economic and Political Development Specialist and four medical professionals.

The UWI mourns the passing of Prof Emeritus Gerald Lalor

It was a series about the Atlantic slave trade on the BBC that shocked Bridget Freeman.  Up until then, she knew almost nothing about the plight of free Africans who boarded ships and were taken throughout the world and sold into slavery.
